11 of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki hairstyles, ranked

A glorious goal, indeed.

Tom Hiddleston has played Loki in the MCU for 11 years – can you believe it?

And throughout his tenure as the God of Mischief, he sported many hairstyles. Here they are, therefore, ranked from worst to best:

Disney +

For research purposes, of course.

The layers bristling with Avengers: Endgame

Marvel studios

Loki has a short but fun appearance during Time Heist in End of Game, during which he sees the opportunity to steal the Tesseract and does it (duh). This takes place immediately after The Avengers, so the hairdressing department had to recreate the spider-like hair that Loki sported in this movie. I wasn’t a fan of the original look, and this recreation is even worse. So many spiky layers! Last place.

The layers (slightly less) bristling with The Avengers

Marvel studios

It was the original spiky look, and although it was less intense than the End of Game version, it’s just not the right headdress for our guy.

The short sleek look ofThor

This look is not necessarily terrible, but it just doesn’t match the vibe of our dear Loki. Where is the harm? Where is the contempt for authority? Did Odin make him do his hair like that ?? If so, I think I understand all that resentment Loki carried.

The two helmets Thor and The Avengers

Marvel studios

They say you can hide a bad haircut under a hat, but these helmets just got more attention that Loki wasn’t at his best. the Thor the helmet seems to be fused with its head and the horns which go up resemble antennae. The most dramatic Avengers helmet makes her spiky hair look like a small feathered scarf. Either way, both helmets are lower than the crown that we see him wearing in later installments.

The longer and looser hairstyle in Thor: The Dark World

Paramount Pictures / Courtesy Everett Collection

Where her previous looks were too stylish and restrictive, the Loki we saw in Thor: The Dark World walked away from (part of) the hair gel and let her hair grow a bit in prison. It wasn’t his best, but he was definitely going in the right direction.

Her sad and sorrowful gaze Thor: The Dark World

Marvel studios

In his grief over Frigga’s death, Loki seems to have given up all efforts to style her hair and let it go naturally. The long, disheveled curls were perfectly representative of Loki’s angst for most of this movie. and made him look like a rock star. The overall appearance might be a little sad and unkempt, but what can I say? If we judge the hair, what we are, it works.

The loops briefly seen from Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel studios

I wish I didn’t have to include this scene, but alas. Loki’s brief and fatal (sob) appearance in Infinity war saw him sport essentially the same look he had in Thor: Ragnarok. You can’t see it too much because it’s dark, but these curls look well defined and not too gelled. Not a bad hairstyle to die for.

The cosplay of DB Cooper in episode 1 of Loki

Disney +

This is what Tom Hiddleston Loki looks like the most, and you have to admire his commitment to the ’70s aesthetic. His hair isn’t the most exciting, but there’s nothing off-putting about it, this which is more than what can be said about his early MCU hairstyles. In fact, he looks quite dapper.

The short and voluminous square of Loki

Disney +

Apparently, a trip to space with the Tesseract can fix your hair as well. In a way, between his escape in End of Game and the first episode of Loki, Loki had his hair cut and the spiky ends were (thankfully) gone.

The kind of half-up / half-down look when he came to Earth in Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel Studios Motion Pictures / Walt Disney Studios / Courtesy Everett Collection

I find it hilarious that Loki’s choice of dress on his adventures on Earth is so formal, but his hair looks great. It keeps it tidy by pinning the sides but letting the bottom flow freely – much like a soft mullet.

And finally, the majestic loose locks of Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel studios

My God (of Malice) is the look. Never have Loki LocksMT looked so voluminous, so well defined, or so silky. With or without headgear, Ragnarok featuring Loki’s best MCU hair from a mile.
