Charlotte Gainsbourg collaborates on an autumn denim capsule with Zara

Charlotte Gainsbourg has long been presented as a style expert. It can be said that she began her studies at birth, as her parents are the legendary style icons Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg. It’s not far from thinking that for Charlotte Gainsbourg, style is learned at home. Even though her parents have had different looks over the years, and Serge Gainsbourg often borders on the uniform look more than Jane Birkin, the whole family has always agreed on jeans.

Approaching the task of designing the perfect denim in partnership with Zara, Charlotte Gainsbourg found herself with two essential silhouettes. One is slimmer and will pair beautifully with boots, the other is looser and more relaxed, the perfect jeans to sum up the past year (and a few changes) we’ve all been through. Aside from the must-have jeans created by Gainsbourg, the rest of the collection is a reflection of what she’s going through these days. There are relaxed black t-shirts, an effortless tank top, a nice denim shirt and maybe my favorite from the collection: the corduroy trench coat. The capsule wardrobe is so complete that the collaboration even offers underwear to complete the look.

This uniform-inspired capsule couldn’t have come at a better time. As the rhythm of things starts to pick up, there is certainly room for a party outfit with all the bells and whistles. But, with a busy schedule that takes you under 15 minutes to get ready, a uniform is always the right answer.
