How this innovative fabric processing service helps clothing protect health

One way to keep the dreaded coronavirus at bay is to constantly wash your hands and use disinfectants. But what about the clothes we wear? Based in Delhi Nanochemistry attempted to answer this question with its revolutionary nanotechnology-based dry cleaning service Fabr-x, launched in 2020.

“Clothes are the only things that are in constant contact with our bodies. Thanks to our advanced textile therapy, we can turn any fabric into antimicrobial, antiviral, odor-repellent, insect-repellent, immunity-boosting and temperature-controlling clothing. All of these therapies have a positive impact on the health of the person who wears or comes in contact with clothes. All of our tissue therapies are tested by international testing agencies and are safe for human health ”, Sasha bose, CEO and co-founder of Nanochemiqs, explains to YSWeekender.

The idea

The team is made up of passionate entrepreneurs from various backgrounds. Sasha graduated in law from the Indian Law School in Pune and her co-founder, Gaurav K, has long been associated with the chemical industry. Collectively, they have accumulated a wealth of corporate experience, enabling them to run a successful and commercially viable business. Their company is ISO certified and is also a startup recognized by DPIIT.

The innovative idea of Faibr-x was conceived by the team in 2018, however, that didn’t materialize until 2020. Sasha shares that since they’ve always wanted to bring the “X” factor to the business, the name “Faibr-x” fits the bill.

“Our vision is to deliver health and wellness benefits to people through tissue. Through our patent pending products, we are able to provide advanced solutions that will help boost the immunity levels and general well-being of individuals, ”said Sasha, explaining the idea behind this service.

When they started working on their product, their goal was to create something that could promote the well-being of people. They knew that one way to do this was to offer technology that would keep ordinary clothes free of germs, viruses and bacteria, and, in turn, reduce the incredible risk of bio-waste created by the kits. Medical PPE, gloves and masks.

“We all use masks to protect ourselves from COVID-19, but do we ever check to see if the mask we buy is really effective in preventing the virus from spreading? As consumers, do we have access to a test certificate for these masks? This is a major concern that Faibr-x is addressing – by turning any fabric mask into an antiviral mask with over 99% effectiveness in reducing the viral load and stopping the spread of the virus. For those who need proof of our promise, we can provide certificates issued by a NABL accredited laboratory that can be accessed using any smartphone, ”Sasha shares.

He says the fabric can also be used to prevent mosquito-borne illnesses. Nanochemiqs has developed a special process keeping in mind the protection of children and the elderly from malaria and other vector-borne diseases. This particular service, when applied to clothing of any fabric, acts as a mosquito repellant, keeping them at bay for a minimum period of 10 washes. They are also able to increase this number to over 1000 washes, depending on the type of fabric.

How it works

Dry cleaning or laundry services in India only provide surface cleaning of clothes and linens. There is no option in retail services for specialized processing of fabrics, linens, sportswear or underwear.

The services provided by Faibr-x claim to solve this problem. Sasha says, “We don’t do laundry or dry cleaning. Faibr-x offers specialized treatment for daily routine clothing, linen, upholstery or any other type of fabric. The specialized processing service is a valuable addition to a conventional laundry market and is a unique service that only we provide.

Faibr-x has dry cleaning and laundry partners in the field for sales and business generation. People drop off their clothes at a collection point of one of these cleaning services, where they are collected daily by the Faibr-x team. Then, the startup processes them according to the client’s requirements and sends them back to the partner, according to their delivery schedule. Once done, the partner department processes the materials for dry cleaning or laundry, according to their existing standard processes. People can access their services either by visiting one of the partner stores or by calling and emailing them.

Faibr-x special treatment services include antiviral and antimicrobial therapy effective in killing all kinds of bacteria, germs and viruses including 99.95% SARS-CoV-2 virus. It claims to have stain and odor control technology specially designed for children’s school uniforms, worker casual wear, formal wear, premium linen, silk and other routine wear.

It also offers mosquito repellants for children’s clothing, defense personnel and travelers; temperature control and air purification for linens, carpets, upholstery, car seat covers, quilts and blankets; fire protection for workers’ uniforms, defense uniforms and other fabrics liable to catch fire; and immunity-enhancing technology designed for children, the elderly, defense personnel and medical patients.

Intended for mass marketing, prices start from Rs 99 for a shirt.

The story of growth

This Delhi-based brand was launched with a initial investment of around Rs 30-35 lakh.

Since its inception, they have had a turnover greater than Rs 1.5 crore. The business is already underway.

Sasha explains, “Right now we are the main and only company providing this type of service in India and Asia. In doing our research, we realized that there was a huge gap in the market. Fortunately, the pandemic has helped us introduce our technology at an affordable cost. “

Currently, only dealing with Delhi-NCR, they plan to expand across the country soon, starting with Tier I and II cities. They will also add more services to their repertoire as they grow.

Sasha points out that while there is a growing demand for these niche services in India, there are many others who need a detailed explanation of their products and benefits. However, the Faibr-x team is meeting these challenges.

“Since the dawn of time, humanity has used clothing for three basic purposes: to cover the body, to protect itself from the elements and for fashion. We have now completely redefined the purpose of clothing, ensuring that it can now be used for general health and well-being and also to protect life against deadly virus, germs and other insects ”, concludes Sasha.
