It’s no fun starting a new MMO and being stuck carrying the same old tattered threads everyone else’s. Fortunately, New World â which launched today and is already one of Steam’s most popular games– has a whole system where you can swap base armor skins for a much flashier cosmetic DLC. Understanding how this system works, however, is a bit tricky. Here is what is available and how to access it.
How to access the deluxe edition and items dropped off on Twitch
If you buy the deluxe edition of the New World, you have access to a handful of additional bonuses, including Woodsman armor skins and a Woodsman ax skin. At the same time, there is currently a Twitch drop for the New World which will earn you cool Vinespun weapon skins if you watch a stack of 10 hours of stream with New World Twitch Drops enabled. So, right off the bat, you’ll have access to some unique skins that you’ll probably want to show off to other players.
For Twitch Drops, you’ll need to link your Steam and Twitch accounts, and then, after watching 10 hours of New World streams, redeem those items through Twitch. here is a quick guide on how to do that as well as some more info on how long this New World Twitch drop will be available.
The good news for your Deluxe Edition items is that they are automatically added to your character once you start playing. There are no additional steps to redeem these items. This is confusing, as there is no inventory menu that shows you all of the cosmetic items you have unlocked.
Instead, you right-click on a piece of armor you’ve equipped and select “Change Skin” from the drop-down menu. This will open a new window that will display all possible skins for that specific gear slot (most will be unlocked via microtransactions or in-game progression). Go through this list and you’ll find the Woodsman skin that matches that gear slot. You will need to repeat this step for your headgear, chest, legs, gloves, and boots. The Woodsman cosmetic set also has a weapon skin for the ax, so if you are using a one-handed ax you can change its skin as well.
This same process can be used to access any skins you could purchase from the in-game store or unlock, including from the current Twitch Drop.
If you’re wondering how to access the rest of your Deluxe Edition items, here’s a quick rundown:
- Isabella’s Amulet: This should already be equipped on your amulet slot when you start a new character.
- Unique title: Found in the Character menu under the Bio tab
- Rock / Paper / Scissors and Punch Emotes: Found in emote window (press P)
- Mastiff Pet: Only accessible after you unlock the slot at level 15
- Digital Art Book: Right-click New World in your Steam Library, select Properties, then DLC to find where it’s downloaded on your player.
