Blink and you might have missed all the red carpet looks from the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. (Don’t worry though, you can catch up here as TZR has rounded up the best outfits for your convenience.) If you haven’t had a chance to fully tune into the show, there’s one important person to check out. you should read: Kerry Washington. She was both a presenter and a nominee, which meant Washington’s dress at the 2022 Emmys had Make a statement. (She was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category as executive producer of Living Before a Studio Audience: The Facts of Life and the Different Shots.) Fortunately, she was able to do so with the help of a one-shoulder Elie Saab Couture dress.
The Spring/Summer 2022 look featured oversized floral embellishments on the shoulders and hips, with a long train trailing behind it. The bodice area of her mini dress had diagonal pleats that complemented her figure. To really show off her ensemble, Washington pulled her hair up into a high bun and wore delicate (but sparkling) jewelry from Bvlgari and Maison Boucheron. She chose a High Jewelry necklace in white gold with a cushion diamond as well as earrings and a High Jewelry diamond ring. For those who took a closer look at Washington’s entire outfit, you’ll notice the way she styled it then different from the way the couture dress descended on the Elie Saab catwalk.
The actress opted to wear black tights under her high-low dress, which blended in with her black pumps. Below in the original runway image, you can see the model walked the runway without tights and wore silver strappy heels inside. The minor undergarment tweak really made a difference in separating Washington’s look from his original counterpart.
