Earlier today (March 24), we shared a Twitter poll asking our subscribers to choose between Nickelback and Machine Gun Kelly when it comes to which band they’d rather listen to for the rest of their lives if only those two options were available to them. Amazingly, regardless of these limited choices, fans have voiced their absolute support for Nickelback’s music, despite tearing the band down countless other times in the past when we’ve covered Canadian rock superstars.
So why the survey in the first place?
Although MGK is firmly a pop-punk artist, a subgenre that is frequently covered here at Loudwire, we are regularly inundated with complaints, asking why the hell we are keeping everyone up to date with what the rocker who sells platinum with a legion of fans are up to it. Given that a pickle on Facebook once had more followers than Nickelback (during what was arguably the band’s peak popularity), pitting two of the most maligned rock artists against each other and forcing everyone to choose one or the other was badly needed – sorry!
Typically, Nickelback gets ridiculed in any comment section, but not this time.
It’s still strange that the band receives so much hate, but manages to sell around 10,000 tickets per night on tour. Translation: they have fans, and many of them, something like their diamond sales record All the right reasons had already informed us.
On the internet, however, the band’s fans often seem to exist in the shadows, afraid to show their support for fear of being set on fire by a community of rock fans whose sole purpose is to make people feel bad about themselves. to the music they love, even though most of these fans hate having strangers criticize them for liking rock or metal.
In a rare and overwhelming display of unity, we’ve finally seen the true colors of rock fans who truly love Nickelback – this is how you remind us of who you really are!
Take a look at what some of you had to say:
