A NUMBER of grim and as yet unexplained discoveries have been made in North Wales over the past few decades.
Here are some of those cases and where to go if you think you can help the police solve them.
In November 2015the skeletal remains of a man have been found in Clocaenog Forest, near Corwen.
Police believe his body had been at the scene for several years.
The man would be over 54 at the time of his death (probably in his 60s) and born before 1950.
dentistry shows work typical of that done in the UK between 1980 and 2000, and he suffered from both arthritis and an inflammatory joint condition – which affected his back and a number of other joints.
It probably would have caused him pain and reduced his movement.
He had previously suffered a spinal injury, a broken nose and possibly an injury to his left wrist.

In May 2011the body of a man was found in a river near Capel Curig.
The man, aged 50 to 60, suffered from a skin pigmentation disorder visible on his face, neck, hands, arms and lower limbs.
The police confirmed that the cause of his death was hypothermia.
He had a slim build, short brown hair, a thick beard and blue eyes.

A North Wales Police car
In December 2001The body of a man aged between 40 and 60 was found washed up on Aberffraw beach, police said.
His eye color was unknown and he was 5 feet 8 inches tall, with an average build.

In February 2001the remains of a male body were found washed up at Hells Mouth Beach, Gwynedd.
Police estimated the person’s age range to be between 14 and 45, with a height of 5ft 3in to 5ft 7in.
Clothing discovered included a green sweatshirt and a large fleece top with “Headworx-HDX Surfwear”.

In November 1985the body of a large man aged 50 to 65 was found at sea at Traeth Crygyll Beach.
The body was believed to have been in the water for two to three months, police said.
The man had short gray hair and surgical scars on his left and right abdomen.
He wore a blue and white striped shirt, size 40 St Michael brown/light burgundy trousers, brown/burgundy size eight shoes and a Gianni Versace tie with blue diamonds on a red background.
The man was also found with a brass-colored key similar to a Chubb key with “master” written on it.

In May 1983the decomposed remains of a male were found in the sea off Llandudno.
The remains would have been in the water for about three to four months.
Also discovered were a brown zipped jacket, gray pants and brown leather shoes.

In December 1982a decomposed body washed up on Aberdyfi beach.
The body was said to have been in the water for about three weeks.
Police said the man, aged 55 to 60, had a surgical scar on his neck and was wearing brown loafers, a gray sweater, blue pants and a “Richard Davies” shirt.
A black-dial watch with standard numerals and a black leather strap was also found.

In May 1982the body of a man aged 25 to 40 was found at sea at Holyhead.
A backpack was strapped to the man’s back.
He had short black hair and was between 6ft and 6ft 2in tall.
According to police, he was wearing blue jeans, brown boots, red socks, a blue sweater, a blue/yellow tartan shirt and a blue overcoat.
Also found in his possession were Ponderosa Camp Trail badges.

In August 1981the body of a man aged between 60 and 100 was discovered in a shallow grave near a rest area on the A525 opposite the Hucan cement works in Ruthin.
It was believed that he had been dead for around six to 12 months and had brown/graying hair.
The man was 5 feet 8 inches tall.

In January 1980the partial remains of a 40-50 year old woman were recovered from the sea off Llandudno.
The woman would have been in the water for a year or more.
She had a surgical scar on her abdomen.

In December 1978the skull of a man aged between 50 and 70 was found in Liverpool Bay near Douglas Head, Conwy.
His death is thought to have occurred within the year before the discovery.

A North Wales police jacket
In June 1978the body of a woman believed to be in her 50s was recovered from the sea a mile off Barmouth.
She was said to have been in the water for two to three weeks and was wearing a St Michaels floral swimsuit.
She was between 4ft 11in and 5ft 6in tall.

In September 1975the skeletal remains of a 45 to 60 year old man were found near the A5 at Capel Curig.
It was thought to be a “vagabond” who died between six and nine months old.
The man had a long beard and curly blond hair.
He wore blue pants, a brown jacket and sweater, a blue cotton shirt, and a bag wrapped around his feet.

In September 1975the body of a man aged between 45 and 60 was found at the foot of the cliffs at Holyhead.
He is thought to have been dead for four to seven days and had brown hair, a mustache and brown eyes, as well as a surgical scar on his left hip.
The man was 5ft tall and wore a blue raincoat, black jeans, brown sweater, purple vest and other possessions.
They included a gold chain with a pendant depicting two boys back to back in a circle, a brown wallet, British banknotes and a plastic lighter.

In May 1970 the body of a 20 to 30-year-old man was discovered hanging in a private forest on the outskirts of Bangor.
He was between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in tall, of medium build and wore a green and blue overcoat, green sweater, blue shirt, brown boots and a “Falcon Headwear” peaked cap with a zipper on the side. side.
